Hey everybody,

I've bought a 5.2 Narwall Rib to which to Rib is in mint condition with a 1989 65Hp engine ; Suzuki has been fully serviced .. Have owned lakes boats for many years .. Few questions , What is the Max Speed a 65 Hp engine can do on flat seas? .. Where can i buy coastal maps to where i would like to venture ..I've not bought this rib "Not" for speed but for pleasure , and some light fishing for myself .. Peace and quite ..
From County Clare to the west coast of Galway Ireland .. ..

Thanks for looking , and thank you for any advice given ..
Regards
Selki West

Hi. Welcome to ribnet!

I would guess if it has the correct prop, you should comfortably get 30 knots out of that. (not to dissimilar setup to mine). For economy, you may be better cruising at 20-22 knots, although the only way to be sure is to experiment. If you have a rev counter, make sure at wide open you are at the rated max RPM.

As for maps, are you meaning paper charts or electronic stuff for a satnav / chart plotter?

Paper charts I'll need to hand you over to the Irish crowd to reccommend somewhere, Electronic charts can also be bought form most chandlers, and also online. Just beware that not all plotters / GPS read all flavours of file!

Depending on your electronic gubbinry, there are two or three chart types (Navonics, C-map, Garmin etc) - just make sure the chart you buy is compatible with your machine.
