Lifting Eyes

I have a Valiant 490 from 2010 with a 50hp engine.
After many years of sling lifting under the tubes the inevitable happened and the tubes started coming off the hull, this has been rectified by re-gluing but I want to avoid a repeat in the future.
I would like to fit lifting eyes which on the transom is a simple job, how can I fit them to the bow. I have an anchor locker but although factory fitted isn't part of the structure, it looks as though it has been added but I cant work out how its fixed. Would anyone know how its fixed and would it be strong enough to fit two eyes, one either side of the hinged down door?

Faced with the same problem I removed the backing plate holding the bow eye through the stem and had enough thread on the studs inside to fit a lifting eye inside the anchor locker. I've found three lifting points works just fine.

Yeah, the inverse side of the bow eye is a good point to use.
A 3 point lift is common.

This is also an excellent piece of kit for a lifting eye, : https://www.marifix.se/sv/artiklar/lasbygel.html

You can either use as is, or with a bit of heat, unscrew the studs and bolt it in instead, which is what I did on my boat - I have one for the fwd eye on my boat you can see here.

And as a result of lifting in - it is nice having reliable trailer brakes.

Perhaps go to https://www.marifix.se and then search for part number F146000 or the word Låsbeslag

Either way, it's a great bit of kit, stainless, compact & strong.

Oh, it has a 6 tonne breaking limit too, so certainly good for up to a couple of tonnes load.

You should be able to find them at any lifting gear suppliers, there will be a 'bricks and mortar" one near you or plenty online. Steer away from eBay unless they come with full certification and definitely don't buy used.
Don't forget to use rated and certificated shackles, not chandlery ones.
Here's one link for slings

Yes, exactly right. If you want, you can have nice stainless hooks made up with custom length strops too: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/402725777498

Don't forget to over-spec though - because if you ever have a whoopsie and end up with a load of water in the boat, you want to have a good chunk of spare capacity on the strops - they are all compact/slim anyway. I try to make sure a single strop can take the full load of the whole rig.

Those strops are polyester - there's also dyneema strops available which also have a place.
