Lenco Trim Tabs

Hi,

I'm looking to fit Lenco trim tabs on the RIB, but I'm struggling to find anywhere that sells them in the UK - Bainbridge Marine no longer list them on their website at all.

I've done a search and a few of you have said that you sourced the tabs from the US - would anyone be able to recommend a supplier over there that will ship to the UK?

Ta!!

How weird is that - I clicked through to Bainbridge Marine from the Lenco website, and they didn't list Lenco anywhere - must be an old site or something.

Anyway - thanks for the link willk!!

Cheers,

D...

Bainbridge have two websites

Bainbridge Marine

and

Bainbridge International

Lenco could be linking to the wrong one

I think that's what's happened - the site looks quite different.

I'm now wondering about Lenco vs Bennet.........

Bennet are actually cheaper, and I think I've got room in the engine box to fit the gubbins...

Ah - decisions decisions......

Lenco are very quick acting, and on a rib the lower weight is always a plus. Quick tip: use ATF rather than the stuff they come with if you go for Bennett's. According to a number of people on here it really speeds up their movement

ATF - Auto Transmission Fluid

Go with Lencos, easier to fit and the led indicator switch is very useful to see the tab position.

It looks like the 'standard' sizes held by Force 4 etc aren't going to be big enough - according to Bennetts sizing info, I should be looking at 30" x 9" tabs?!?

The 950 we toured in last week was carrying 12"x24" Lencos (approx). She is over 9.5m and tips the scales around 3 tons loaded. The tabs were possibly too big for her, IMO, in that any required trim could be achieved in the first 1/3 of their travel. Not a massive issue, but they deploy quickly and if oversized, you run the risk of someone pulling the bow down to a degree that bow steer/hooking could be a concern...

For a 7.0meter I run 18" wide x 9" long... Plenty of trim and at full trim you can really bury the bow, looking at your profile I am guessing 7-8 meters ? possibly you could move up to 24" width for an 8 meter this would be plenty IMO.

Yes - she's quite tail heavy - almost a tonne of engine at the back will do that to a boat...

She's a 7.8m Ribcraft Offshore - so quite a heavy lay up, with a big lump at the back - but the B2X leg has never really given enough trim.... or sorted the lean at WOT.

Looking at the transom today, I'll struggle to get much more than a 24" tab on there anyway - trunks and leg getting in the way - so 24" tabs might be the way to go.

Yes - sorry, getting my lbs and kgs mixed up......

The other thing to consider is that the boat spends up to 6 months at a time in the water - so electrical gizmos in the water might not be so clever - and if something does go wrong with the rams (water ingression etc), then the hydraulic ones are (supposed to be) cheaper to repair...

Anyone had any problems with Lenco's on an afloat boat? Or is that just Bennet BS?
