LED & Laser Flares

I am about to renew some flares.

Does anyone have any experience of LED or Laser Flares? Are they any good? What's best? Should I stick with Pyrotechnics?

The general consensus is that unless you are needing pyro's to meet a regulatory requirement, the LED / Laser flares are the way to go.

I have now ditched (not literally) all handheld pyro and have ODEO LED flare...but I still carry and would not be without floating orange smoke canisters for daytime use.

BTW DO check the batteries if you carry an LED flare. I checked mine today the batteries were dead despite the unit being turned off and never used apart from 6 monthly test Quickly changed
