Transom isn't cut low, the cut out is to allow better performance from the outboard 👍

Thanks for clarification.

May I ask what the reason is for not just fitting an XL shaft engine without taking such a low cut out of the transom?

The reason I ask would be due to the coding regulations in MGN280 dictating the minimum freeboard requirements (which many mainstream ribs don't seem to meet without modification) should a prospective buyer wish to purchase one for commercial use?

Is MGN280's freeboard requirement not the height to the weather deck/scuppers so the depth of the transom cut-down wouldn't really make any difference and if it's an issue you just fit a well.
Lowering the height of the engine should improve handling by lowering the COG and might give an edge on the heel test.

For a RIB, MGN 280 seems to suggest that the freeboard to the top of the tubes should be at least 300mm and not less than 250mm at the lowest part of the transom. If it is Area Cat 6 only, it can still be certified if it fails to meet this but will drain and have reserves of buoyancy. Cat 6 is pretty restrictive.

It's Section 12.2.4 if anyone is remotely interested.

Is the transom height really an issue? I'm pretty sure if someone ordered an xl transom the guys could easily make it xl at time of manufacture

Videos of ribs in action tend to be so dull - this is another case in point but good luck with the venture. I have to say the A frame looks better on the water than it did on the trailer - Just wondered if you have a ski rope attachment on the A frame?

Hi yes we have 2 ski hooks placed at the back of the transom but we can add additional points as required.

The video was put together very quickly using an app. Thought it would be better than just footage with no music etc.

Will put another one together with a bit more about it.

That's where the passenger decided to sit. There is no weight distribution issue. The boat goes very well in the water...

I'm no expert in digital marketing... but...

I find the videos uploaded directly on this site difficult to play. Seems to vary by device etc.

I'd be tempted if I was you to upload to youtube, and link from there. Gives you better exposure online. Gives you better cross browser compatibility. Gives you youtube.com/analytics which tells you lots of useful information:

- How many people viewed your video
- What country they came from
- How long they viewed for on average and if you dig deep enough you can even see at what points people stopped watching. (Which may help construct future videos)
- Where the play came from (so you'd see how many Rib.netters played the video - which helps you understand the value proposition of trade membership)

Hiya Kraken ! I would want to see you do really well as more competition has got to be good for us consumers , right ? Even on a laptop , the images of your rib are barely one centimetre in size and the picture is often misty or dark . Most if not all of the footage is in pretty flat " un-exiting water" . I know it's the wrong time of the year in the UK , but could you not get some action close-ups in white water so we can get a better impression of what your rib is really capable of ? Best wishes , honestly trying to be constructive .....

Good luck with the venture. At York Rescue Boat we'll be needing a new rib at some point, it's good to have another local option.

Well I am as delighted with my own tornado 19 yrs after I bought it as the day I collected it. Also my dive clubs tornado is a bril boat from 1992 its had a new set of tubes on and the orinigal yam 115 is perfect. Ok a testament to lots of tlc but also excellent quality.
