Yep time will tell. But have asked arround and most engineers say that they are OK like this. So will wait and see.
I have ordered it with 51/2" set back since I am not so sure if all the cables I have aft can extend to 40cm+ if I ordered it with 10" and I was strongly advised to fit a low water pickup unit. So I've ordered one of those too.
Now is the prop question and fortunately Yamaha in Greece (just got off the phone to them) will let me test any SS prop I want before purchase. They recomended 4 blades. So that is shorted too

Now will start doing a few further mods on the 150VMax I've got.

Expenssive hobby is all I have to say

Main reason I ordered one was in the hope of extra efficiency - with the thirst of a big outboard ANY slight improvement would be welcome - also 5mph more in flat calm would be nice!

Cookee I never said anything about this. If you look a bit further down you willsee that I just agreed with cod's post which insidently having asked the suppliers is 100% correct. But thanks all the same

Madness!
Manos has just asked the OSO boys if the stainless marine jack plate is any good, because it's made of 'SS' 'from top to bottom'
