Is there a way of ferrying a rib to the Isles of Scilly?

Hi guys
My wife and I really fancy next year on the scillys but with all our camping gear and a golden retriever, we are not really wanting to cross under our own steam.

I have heard that trailers can be loaded onto the Scillonian, anyone know anything about this?

Yes, I know of a couple of lads who have taken RIBs & trailers across. I have a photo somewhere of a RIB on its trailer hanging over either side of the bow on the Scillonian. Better still, wait until someone is going over (it's on our "to do" list) & tag along. You could put the missus & the dog on the ferry & have a blast across in the RIB, save you a fortune

Yep, that's a nice easy run if the conditions are good, you need to keep an eye on the weather, I did hear of a guy that did the same and had to leave his rib there and go back for it when the sea was calmer.

I'll dig our video out

Boats on trailers usually go over on the Gry Maritha rather than the Scillonian.
The gigs all go over for the 'World' Championships on trailers.

In support of your proposal (I regularly nip over by sea), if you are tied to a specific booked week, the weather is likely not to play ball. I've known guys book a cottage over there for a week and have big problems either getting out or back when required.

When we make the trip out of Falmouth, we look for a weather window and then plan, you'd not have that luxury.
Stick her on the Gry.

Yep Both Mollers and Maximus were on the trip in the video and it was a pain to plan with with a go or not go at the last minute and then we only stayed for one night as the weather was closing in.

The Scorpion Stings that we me on the way back had a rough trip home a couple of days later...

Just had a quote from the Steamship Co to take my RIB over to Scilly next summer on a 7m trailer - nearly fell off my chair £321.97 ( inc VAT) each way so almost £650 return! I'll definitely be launching in Penzance or Falmouth and cruising over there for my 3 week holiday on St.Martins! Going on either Sunday 19th or Monday 20th July if anyone fancies tagging along!

Nice!.. Have RIB will travel
Hope you get some decent weather.
We've got a few trips planned, with the BIOC Scotish crew ect so may well be up for one then.
Although I did enjoy jumping off from "Rock" this Autumn with Chris and Co and going down the North Coast though!
Infact we're looking to go again before Christmas
