Hydrofoils

Hi, Please could you help.....

I brought a 4m Ocean rib with a 1990 or im not quite sure maybe 1998 mariner 40hp engine and i had seen all the threads on hear so i brought and fitted doel hydrofoil fins to the outboard.

I have used the boat and i get on the plane quick and theres a stable ride and everything....etc. The only thing is that fuel usage is appaling i use so much fuel!!!!!!

Can i take the hydrofoils off my engine and see if the hydrofoils are making it bad fuel usage or will the holes in the cavitation plate be bad?????

Is there anything i can do to change or improve fuel usage??

Thanks for your help...

Alex

I found hydrofoils in favor of fuel usage. You can plane and go steady at lower rpm with them which helps fuel consumption

if you have fins fitted then make sure you have the trim correct for the speed you are doing otherwise they can cause some drag and reduce mgp

Yes, you can remove them and run; the holes will have little, if any, effect on operation.
