Hotels on Guernsey

Hi

Im planning to trip to Guernsery and I was wondering if anyone has any experience of the hotels / B&Bs on the island? I would prefer one near the harbour.

Here are the two that members of my family have used in the past:

http://www.mooresguernsey.com/

http://www.theoghhotel.com/greet.aspx

Both are near the harbour. Moores is ideally placed, right on the High Street.

Not sure when we are coming, its probably May time, we want goodish weather < Force 4, otherwise fuel costs from Newhaven will double...

we were planning to go to St Peters Port, is this a good idea or does it get too busy?

Pete

St Peter Port does get busy, but the Marina staff are extremely well organised and they do their utmost to accommodate everyone.

St Peter Port has an outer and an inner harbour. Access to the inner harbour is tide dependent. It may be better for you not to go right into the inner harbour, and stay on a pontoon attached to the land in the outer harbour. I have seen a cabin RIB do this. This way, you can whip over to Herm, Sark etc without worrying whether you can get out over the cill of the inner harbour.

If you wanted to be a little more adventurous, stick your nose in here. Its much quieter than St Peter Port, but there are no hotels. Great place to chill out if the whether is fine.

The Old Goverment House does look like a nice Hotel, but at rooms over £100 / night its not in the price range I had in mind. Im after Travel Inn prices around £50 / night for the room!
