Hit a Sandbank....

At the weekend I let my mate drive the RIB, we were doing about 20 knots when suddenly I went back to have a look at the chartplotter, i go, sh1t I think we should stop.. too late BANG. in 0.3M of water, good job the prop didnt get bent or the hull damaged as it didnt touch the bottom.... that will teach me for going down rivers I haven't been on before...
The depth alarm went off after it was too late....

Im only 20, but after 14 years of Ribbing thats the first time I have had an incident like that! I've never even touched the bottom before! (at least I wasnt driving)

Nothing a bit of primer and black paint wont fix

Spot the sandbank? No me neither!

Hadn't your prop also been through the sand before you bought the boat?

lovely wide river at high water but really as shallow as my wife

picked my way up to Manningtree a couple of times but you do not want to hang around cos it seems that water only lasts there a few minutes

I did my Day skipper there.

Check out this site, useful to see the rivers before you go there.

I ran aground on a sandbank at Mont St. Michel two weeks ago and last month I hit a rock trying to get back on my mooring. My skeg looks just like yours. Don't worry about it; it happens. If you tell the story right people may even think you're way hard.

Can you still moor at Mistley Quay or is it all riverside appartments now? We used to moor at Mistley and walk along the river bank to Mannigtree to go to the pub for lunch. Happy days.

Alan there has been big problems on the quay with a developer fencing it off with ugly 8ft wire

So you cannot enjoy the quay from landside nor can you really get off a boat

locals have been up in arms but so far it is still there; ironically it does nothing for those who actually live in the apartments -dtracts from the view they might have had
