Great rescue foootage...

My apologies if this has been posted before. I especially like the launching and recovery of the RIB....

Yes it has but it's nice to be reminded - great video and shows what RIBs can do.

This one is incredible

12m waves - that about 40' - the video improves a lot 1/2 way through. The RIB running around in those waves reminds me of a sheepdog herding it's sheep!!!

Thanks Cod... I had done a search but nothing showed up...

I'm glad you posted the other as well... I started to watch it but gave up due to the bad lighting. I stuck it out this time though. Waves always look so much bigger at night too!

Sobering experience on how unfriendly the seas can be. I am sending these links to my buddies who bitch about little 4 footers on a sunny day at 35 kts

Rescue and recovery

Some brave guys who went out in that rib to rescue the crew, a dangerous operation in ANY kind of boat at night in a beam sea. You never know when a breaking wave is going to come along and the pilot of the rib had to keep his eyes on the lifeboat, the passengers jumping into the water, their position and the wave action all at the same time... very difficult in daylight much less at night! Outstanding seamanship, hats off to that crew, they made it look almost easy!

Look at this video as well. It shows what I think is the best extreme RIB of them all - built by Ocean Dynamics and designed by the late Shaun White. Diesel waterjet powered and ali hull. Notice the people sitting on the tubes and the deliberate stuffing of the bow - no problem when you don't have a transom!!!

re video

Cod, are they reversing the jet in the video? I can't really tell exactly, I ran Nautica's 36 jet drive with Seatec diesels in Miami with Franco Rossi senior several times, that boat could be reversed at wide open throttle, it was just like having brakes, the water would come right over the transom! Alarming at first, once you did it a couple of times it was no big deal. A pic of their new 42 if I can attach it...
either too stupid or too tired, can't attach the pic, try in the morning, good night, Pat

Most jets can use reverse thrust at any time. No they weren't doing that in the video - looks like they were using a load of trim to push the bow down and keeping it into a wave so they had one long "stuff" just to fill the boat with water and give the pax a thrill.......

Here are a few more videos showing just what Shaun's boats can do. This one is alive and well running boat trips in the same style as created by Shaun all those years ago.

Enjoy!

Probably been played to death on here but this still rates as one of my favorite RIBs. Having seen them in the flesh would have one tomorrow.
