Well having zero experience I don't intend to be too adventurous just yet and also remember we are heading towards winter... and it hasn't got a roof! so probably no spectacular photos for a while yet as I'll be taking it easy for a while, but no doubt I will find something to take the odd picture of

Not so much the slips that are the problem (though even those aren't great) its the roads!

The trailer is built on Land Rover hubs and wheels so replacement bearings etc are easy to come by in this part of the world

And those are the "A" roads.

It wasn't the surface that bothered me, it was the bl**dy great ditches.

Nasty accident when we were there - fatalities and bad injuries, only youngsters. Out in dads landrover and came off the road and down the ditch.
Just drag that boat to the Canache slip and tip it in there-be fine in winter around Stanley-I thought you falklanders were tough! Whats a bit of snow and an absolutely raw freezing wind to you lads!

I took the afternoon off and I have only just got back in (7pm) which speaks for itself.....

Awesome fun

Was bombing around the harbour in just a T shirt for most of the afternoon, cooled off a little towards the end but a perfect first day. I didn't go that far, with only having one engine and it being first time out, just getting a feel for the boat, different engine trim settings and stuff like that. I got wet too, but I didn't really mind - a pod of about 12 dolphins appeared and started playing round the boat so I was circling slowly watching them, they were jumping and chasing each other, started off back in at about 15 knots and they were cruising alongside and in front, then 3 of them jumped together about 2 feet off the starboard side of the RIB (wind was from that side too) and I got absolutely #kin soaked!!! nice to watch though, but I have learned my first lesson, with dolphins around you either go very slowly (so they don't splash) or very fast (so they can't keep up) or expect to get very wet...

I went and had a look at the old iron ship Lady Elizabeth (among Dave's pictures in the other thread), nearly ran over a couple of penguins (oops - don't normally see them in the harbour!) and generally had a wonderful afternoon, definitely been bitten by the bug

I had one burst at just over 35 knots which is better than I expected based on the test run, not sure what the max rpm on this engine is so I was being careful, I think it is 5500 but I need to check in the book (no redline on the tacho).

What a stunning old ship - terrible shame she has bjust been left to rot!!!

Built in 1879 - wrecked in 1913 and still standing strong - they certainly built them to last!!!

Please take some photos of your trips - especially of the poor old ship!!!

Awsome - dolphins and penguins, wrecked ships - you are making me jealous.

Here in England there is a media frenzy if just one dolphin makes an appearance.

We did see a few on a trip on Christmas eve - but they just swam on by and took no notice of us - all we saw were the fins.

Nice looking boat - my first RIB was a humber too - you will never regret buying it.

I agree with codprawn - we want more pictures...

Ghastly frozen rock this is, don't know why I stay here really....

ok ok it doesn't ALWAYS look like this but even so

Anywhere in the Islands there is a good chance that within 10-15 minutes of going out in anything with an engine, a bunch of dolphins will turn up, and they always follow the boat and play in the wake, don't know why really but they make for pleasant company. Impossible to get decent photos of though, you usually end up with about 30 shots of either a splash or a tail, damn shutter lag!!! really more of an experience to be had on the day rather than recorded.
