Good trailering locations in Europe

Recommendations please for summer holidays in Europe. Drive with boat trailer. Prefer apartment or static caravan with easily accessible moorings to go with 6m boat.
Looking forward to your suggestions.
Thanks

Thanks Wilk. Should have been more specific would like to head south into mainland Europe. Med or lakes. Have been to Frejus and camping Nautic Almata in Spain. Really would like some new options.

Which campsite and what was wrong with it please?
Lake Annecy is another option I'm considering . Any recommendations there?
Anyone been to Lake Maggiore?

This one http://www.holiday-marina.com/?lang=en site was fine just noisy on a night with road noise not ideal in a tent
Never fancied Annecy as not big enough for me I get bored easy

Yes Sir, are you calling me ?

My recommendation:

1. Trip to Greece
- Go to Venice
- Rent taxi boat and make 1 hr around trip
- Ferry from Venice to Igumenisa or better Patra gos through famous
"Grande Canale"
--- you can seat on upper deck drinking what you prefer and look at crowd and famous buildings
- From Patra you have ferry to Kefalonia
-- I can check later if you have ferry to Itaca here:
Vathi
-- petrol station in marina (rare in Greece)
- very nice area and a lot of super destinations:
--- Itaca around, island of Kefalonia, island of Lefkas, Zakyntos

Maybe it helps:

http://www.rib.net/forum/f53/2016-ex...ain-71213.html

And Croatia. I do recommend Murter Island (Tisno or Jaziera villagies)
http://www.rib.net/forum/f53/croatia...0dl-73500.html

Maybe a few RIB members can meet in Greece or Croatia next year ?

We made such trip in 2012:

- Lago Maggiore Italy (only few days, we did not use any boat this time)

- 1 hr taxi boat (100 EUR per hr, discount for Family it was 80 EUR - almost the same than train boats for 5 in two ways)

- ferry from Venice to Patra (it was nice but too slow, now we use Triest - Patra which is much faster)
view from ferry:

And Greece EPidavros /Peloponese

Starting from the UK, Greece is far away in driving hours for two weeks of holidays (driving will probably take 2.5 days one way, but I've not checked the ferry), but Croatia is well within my range.

I'm starting to plan my 2017 trips. The plan is that we spend a week during Easter in Port Grimaud, but I have no idea what to do in August.

How do we get a few RIBs to have two weeks of fun?

I have spoken to owner oferta wypożyczalni pontonów rib4rent - Sprawdź Nas.

(Sorry website is in Polish). 5,5m RIB with engine 115 cost for week only 500 GBP.
Unfortunately to offers such good prices boats are few years old (I think 5,6) but well maintain. Such size it has only 2 items (and a few 4,5m)

I even offered him that I can buy a few and rent him to rent for customers.
It be not big business and again any profit be only when cost boat+trailer be around 10000 GBP (cost of buying such RIB in Croatia 5-6 y old in Winter time).

I had similar idea for Greece and Mitikas which had free marina (I will buy RIBs and local Marine service will rent them) but Jeff (from this forum) told me "do not make business in Greece".

There are a lot of "rent boat" businesses in Croatia but average price is about 200 EUR (150 GBP) per day.

It is too expensive for Polish people so the owner of rib4rent.pl found gap in "rent - rib" business and offers them for 60-70 GBP per day.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Going back to trip UK - Greece.
You have ONLY 1400 km from Calais to Trieste !!!
Calais-Treste

And from Trieste to Patra (Peloponnese) or Igumenisa (Ionian Sea) you have ferry.
My family is 5 people so car and tow trailer even including cost of the ferry is better than airplane and rent car. Plus you can visit few places (for example one week Pylos Peloponnese, one week Ionian Sea).

But again I saw some advert here on RIB.net about rent the RIB in Lefkas.
if you find it (or you can ask for help Greek members of RIB.net) you can fly to Preveza and go to Lefkas by hired car (40 minutes or less)

The language is not a problem (języka na emigracji nie zapomniałem!).

If going to Croatia for 2 weeks, there is little gain from renting a boat (apart from my Bombard 600 not having a bimini top) because it doesn't save that much on driving time. Either with or without the boat it's going to be 1.5 days of driving (I guess I'm getting too lazy to be doing 1500km non stop). But, this charter opens interesting possibility of short trips (under one week) flying in, so might be interesting anyway.

I agree with him - this is too far away, no trusted person to oversee, different mentality, just asking for an awful lot of troubles. You'll end up with all the boats not really maintained and ruined within a year or two. Not worth the risk IMO.

Agreed, or 1700km to Zadar, so for me both options are two days of towing (I wonder how much fun it will be to tow for two days solid - my first longer towing trip will be in April to Port Grimaud). Going to Greece would also add one more day of travel (ferry), but that's part of the holidays so should be enjoyed! My biggest constraint is that I can only have two weeks of holidays in August, so I need to be economical with driving time, otherwise there won't be much left for boating! Effectively it's two weeks, both starting and finishing weekends, probably either Friday or Monday off as well - so 18 days, 6 of which will be travel. Leaves 12 days in Greece - doable.

We have two kids, they're thankfully used to being driven for holidays ;-)

I think my preference here is the same as yours - if I have my own stuff, then I can visit at least two different areas. Renting locally we'd be really restricted to one place only, unless we take 4 weeks of holidays...

the owner of the rib4rent.pl offers also transport from airport (they bought some 8 persons VAN for this purpose). I think you can ask him for package:

- transport from/to airport
- advice for apartment near marina
- rent the RIB

He is Polish (like us) and almost whole year in Croatia.

Good trailering locations in Europe

We spent a Summer hols at Empuriabrava on the Bay of Roses just North of Barcelona.

Trailered the boat out and had a lovely villa with a mooring at the end of the garden with a private pool.

The Villa was owned by an British Family that had moved out there and they had a few different sized apartments.

Never seen the fascination in trailering the Rig all over Europe myself..with all the hassle of Ferries and potential problems exasperated by distance and Language..long wasted days driving/travelling...ect All compounded by Jonny Foreigner! (And his regulations/paper work)....something I go Boating to get away from!

There is after all an absolute abundance of Trully Gorgeous destinations in ol Blighty..from the Scillies to Scotland with a lifetimes Boating in between...(and plenty reachable destinations from our waters too..IMO

When we do go further affield...its mostly for a "Real Chill out" re-charge the Batteries type affair..and Caribbean/US generally wins out then
But hey... we're all different, let us know how you get on

Surely you have all the distance and travel time issues doing south coast to Northern Scotland, not to mention the language barrier?
