Glue accessories on painted Hypalon

Since my RIB has been painted over the Hypalon tubes Is there a glue I can use to attached accessories?

You need to remove the paint on the areas where you plan to glue any attachments. Hypalon and PVC then need to be keyed (roughen surface, de-grease).

Not sure how you remove the paint, but suspect you're going to have sand it rather than use chemicals. You can use masking tape to ensure clean edges. That said, it it's painted, you could repaint tubes afterwards for a tidy finish.

This isn't the best time for gluing given humidity in the air, unless you have a heated workshop with plenty ventilation. Check out Polymarine's site for gluing details and supplies.

Even if the tubes were not painted, you still have to similarly remove the sheen off of the raw hypalon with similar tools, so the fact that theyre painted shouldnt make much of a difference in prep time

An abrasive nylon wheel on a drill makes quick work of hypalon paint as well as fabric preparation.
