fueling

Hi guys

We are going to Ribex with three ribs from Holland.
Does anybody know which harbors we can fuel the boats at the southcoast.
I once saw a site about it but I can't find it anymore.
Are there more of you who are going there by boat.
Maybe we can meet.

greatings Niels.

(and once again sorry for the poor language)

Neils, What route are you taking?

I know there is fuel at Harwich and Bradwell on the East Coast. There used to be fuel at Ramsgate too but no idea now. Think Brighton does petrol as well.

HTH,

Alan

This is the last fuelling place before you get into the Solent

Ramsgate has petrol, albeit at about £1 per litre.

Last time i was in Brighton they had petrol also.

I have found Lymington one of the most reasonably priced places in the solent although Haslar marina, in Gosport also has petrol should you need it 'earlier' but as i recall this was about £1.20 per litre.

Looking forward to seeing you - what day do you intend to round the North Foreland (cross Thames Estry / Ramsgate etc.) maybe i shall launch and come with you for a few miles.

Fuel site

Try this one. Can select diesel, petrol or LPG, and then will show locations by region, and price per litre

We first go to Calais or Boulonge sur mer or something (any suggestions?)
So we don't come near Ramsgate.

I was not going to take the boat by sea, rather by road, but in company with a few other RIB's this is a tempting offer.

My main concern is that i am supposed to be co-organising the RIBnet event with Kevin (Aging Youth) and so should be in Cowes early morning on the Friday - i was going to go by road on the Thursday afternoon.

I will think about joining you if i am welcome? Poss meet in Brighton thursday evening. Have you arranged B+B or hotel there or in Cowes?

Having spoken to the Ramsgate Marina people at the boat show they have confirmed that they will be selling petrol this year ;they have taken it over from the independant supplier;current price around 98p per litre;

I am looking to set out for the D Day sites on 3rd June and may well try to update the fuel situation on the other side of the channel prior to then.

At present I am still unaware of waterside pumps on the other side other than Cherbourg but in terms of a walk Fecamp was the shortest with Dieppe the longest (had to take a cab)

This side of the Solent there is petrol on the water at Levington (River Orwell) , Ramsgate and Sovereign Yacht Harbour Eastbourne (24 hours)

In view of this I am considering a straight run fom the Orwell to Sovereign and then a crossing to Fecamp or maybe Le Havre. Both depend on sea conditions and resultant likely consumption of fuel
