Forecast Tomorrow

We were intending to try out our new Rib tomorrow at Calshot and having checked various weather sites there are conflicting reports.
Would appreciate anyone who is local giving me the SP?
Fortunately at Calshot we can go back into Southampton Water if the Solent is no go.
Thanks
Martyn

Noddy,

I was intending to go out tomorrow in the Solent but not too sure now. I'm pretty certain it won't be a family day out which is what I'd planned.
What time are you launching at ?
I was going to launch from Portsmouth but might cruise Southampton water to get a bit of shelter and have some high speed fun.
We'll keep an eye out for you.

All indications suggest F3-4 south westerly in the morning, F4-5 south westerly gusting F6 later in the afternoon. Rain in the afternoon likely.

Indeed it was I had to move yours down so I could get out.

Your boat looks great, hope you don't mind, but I had a sit on the seats, just to see what its like with kidney supports.. I'm considering getting some for mine when I get my new seat layout sorted.

The other alternative I've been thinking is selling mine to get a 8.5 diesel scorpion, just like yours! They look good, and a lot cheaper to run

We got out, my son and I. Good idea to use Southampton water in those conditions. We went over to Cowes to Sea trial Zerstorer. Force 7 and gusting up to 38 Knots certainly made for some interesting conditions. What size RIB do you need not to get wet ?
Although it was a bit of a struggle with some large waves to negotiate the boat coped admirably.
When we came back we had a good blast up and down Southampton water several times. Saw a few other RIBs but didn't get any takers so I guess they weren't Ribnet members.
All in all a good first trip, everything worked perfectly from the trailer to the Suzuki engine.
Did a round trip of 43 NM and a max speed of 38 Knots using somewhere around 22 Litres of fuel.
In Southampton water bumped into four Sunseeker type boats carrying out high speed manouveres so decided to join them. We got some funny stares and some not so funny ones when we overtook them.
I must admit although we only got to 38 Knots the speed was impressive as we were overtaking everything. Most of the hard boats seemed to be maxing out at 35 Knots.
Just need some foot straps now to keep me bolted to the floor.

Thanks Nautibuoy its a cracking boat.

I think everybody likes the colour as it certainly gets some stares.

A couple of photos to follow if I can get them off the phone.

You are most welcome, glad you are having fun, certainly sounds like it, now you see why I'm going for another yellow Rib, do look the part on the water.

See you out in the solent in 5 weeks time when my new one arrives.

Stu,

I'll pop up to your place in the near future and show you the new boat. Its covered in instructions already with callsigns and Radio channels. Starting to look quite organised and official already.

Stu,

Just guessing with the fuel. The gauge is this funny light thing. 1 light equals 11 litres. I used two lights today so it was about 22 or litres. Will fill it up for next week and get a more accurate reading.

I guess our trip to Cowes and back would have been economical but the rag up Southampton water would have burnt some juice.
