Fitting a single jet drive to a deep V hull

How would one go about it? I've been daydreaming a bit today and I'm tempted to marinise a 130+ HP diesel and stick a jet drive on it then bung the lot in an sr5.4. Can't work out how to go about mounting the intake though.

Isn't that going to cost a lot of money ?

Surely better to pick something up that is already inboard but with just a knackered engine. I think the legs/Jet drives are expensive. Certainly if your starting from scratch thats going to be a whole lot of engineering out the back of the boat just to save a few quid on an old van engine.

Prove us wrong Matt. I'm not an engineer but I just think you could find easier ways to get on the water.

Heres some other projects for you to consider.

By the way if anyone looks at Babcocks for 5.4 Seariders they seem to be moving them on pretty quick.

Cheers guys.

I wasn't thinking of an old van engine more of a new style vw 160hp diesel from the GTI-but moot point now-it's not really feasable for me to carry out that major work in the confines of my garage.
