Finally afloat and plenty of bass

Since my mates and I got our rib I've replaced the fuel system with new tanks with quick connect fittings, fitted a new prop, fitted carling switches to the helm, fitted a bilge pump and bilge pro switch, replaced the fuel/water separator filter, fitted nav lights, had one tube repaired and both adapted to stop the rear most seams from lifting, serviced the engine, adjusted the anchor locker so it drains into the bilge and fitted a Ray Marine Dragonfly 7" plotter/fishfinder.

We were finally ready to have a proper go at catching some bass.

Four double figure bass on the first session and two on the second, best two were 84-85cm, which should make them over 13lb.

Happy days, can't wait to get out again

Very nice. I see your fishing deepish water. Care to let on what gear/ lures/ bait you were using and what type of ground. We have had good success here in south west wales with fiiish black minnows over reefs.

Hi Johnny
Nearly all bass came to Fiiish Minnows, we fished with our old shore lure rods, 4000 shimano reels with 20lb braid. Not very deep and yes over a reef.

Thanks for reply. Yes those minnows are awesome. Still waiting to break the double figure barrier on lures but have come close. Sounds like you're doing exactly what we do. We are using 7 foot bass rods with 2500 size reels and 20 pound braid. Excellent pictures. Post again if you have more luck. I for one am interested.

Lovely looking bass - well done lads!
Makes our exploits from yesterday look a tad small!

A cracking catch, the water up here hasn't really cleared enough yet for us to target the bass on lures.

I'd like to do that! Fishing out in the sea, but I'm afraid I might get a puncture with all those hooks.
How do you guys prevent such a thing?

just curious

Been fishing/diving off ribs for 30 years & never had a problem. Tubes are surprisingly hook resistant. Common sense helps.

Absolutely superb. Congratulations! Haven't seen one bass that size for a good few years and you land four in one session. Great effort.
