@Swordfish had great run Saturday noticeably better than the old 90 2 stroke.

I did have a look over the prop and couldn't see the size unfortunately but when I get it out to service it in Nov then I will be able to get a closer look without risking falling in off the pontoon.

I got 36kt on the GPS speedo. It's the only speedo I have got that works.

The revs were about 5,800.

So seems like the setup is about right.

I often see posts on here of people getting like 50kts and I was jealous before but 36kts was quite 'full on' in that little boat - with speed wobble from tube to tube - so am very happy. It did about 29kts before with the 90 2s

Was good on the petrol consumption too.

I do have the stainless prop form the old engine which I think has a greater pitch - I think I will give that a try to see if it improves anything.

Anyway - bottom line - pleased as punch.

I now need to learn all about 4 stroke outboards because I have never owned one before.

Also - back to the original question - no the engine was not too heavy.

Came up on the plane fine.

Transom was not too low - it does lie an inch or two lower at the stern but nothing that stands out.

Hi HM, well done sounds like it worked out well: "36kt, revs about 5,800, speed wobble, stainless prop form the old engine which I think has a greater pitch"

5,800 sounds pretty optimal unless it's reaching the rev limiter? I'd be surprised if the speed wobble was chine walk at 36kt? Assuming three blades I'm going to take a stab in the dark and guess its running a 17" at 36kt and 5,800.
