DSC radio and position

When you have a DCS radio linking into the GPS to give your position, is this transmitted as part of the message on channel 70 when you have a mayday situation.. i should know this?

yes and the message is repeated until acknowledged by Coastguard.

You may then be called or transmit further info on channel 16

Yes the DSC mayday transmission includes your MMSI number and vessel position. The position data comes from the GPS if linked to the radio, otherwise your co-ordinates have to be input manually.
