Dry suit for ribbing

All,

Am looking for recommendations for dry suits for ribbing. Needs to be breathable and flexible; and have a convenience zip. Would also be good to have same model fitting the wife. Can you help?

Best regards
Appleby

We have Typhoons with neoprene neck & wrist seals. Mine has a pee zip. Very happy with them, would buy again. Ours have the built in bootees, so you need a pair of over boots.

I bought ours at the Boat Show. Typhoon had a concession on the Andark stand & we’re doing great deals. Robin Hood water sports are dealers, but I’d recommend trying for size before buying.

I've just bought a Trident Compass front zip suit. Very happy with it and first class service from Trident.

+1 for Robin Hood great to deal with, we went to the shop and tried on loads before choosing, worth the trip to get it right

Thanks for the tips!

Actually, how useful do you find "breathability" in these drysuits?

I have a diving drysuit (non-breathable) & my breathable Typhoon RIB suit. Both can get hot in mild weather or light sunshine. The Typhoon is much more comfortable to wear for long periods, the diving suit can get un-bearable. So I’d say yes, breathability is important. The trade off is that they aren’t 100% waterproof, in that if you are stood in water or you have water in your boots, your feet can get damp after an hour or 2.

They will make you anything your want.
Several custom suits are what I had made, with/without boots, front/back zips, comfort/uncomfort! zips......basically, whatever. I also had waist belts fitted to them which makes you look less like a Michelin man when strolling up the high street.
And they fit industrial strenght zips with bottles of zip wax. Cant recommend them too highly.

It's what you wear underneath that counts you need to wick the moisture away from the body my suit is breathable. But it still gets light moisture plenty of layers is key better than under suits I some times wear a down jacket under mine, wind chill is a problem on the cold days too. My rescue suit is made for long periods of wear very comfy, get made to measure its best that's from experience over many years

[emoji106]re. Windchill. We keep a couple of old outdoor Goretex jackets that have seen better days, on the boat. Worn on top of the drysuit keeps the windchill off & stops the drysuit getting covered in mackerel guts & blood.

I have a Gul would never buy another typhoon or crewsaver next time depending on fit or a Hamilton if I’m flush...

Escape have a good range https://www.escape-watersports.co.uk/clothing/drysuits and some good offers from time to time palm seem popular with kayakers locally

I'm not sure if HDAV meant Hamilton or Hammond but here is a couple of links. I don't have experience of either of them.

Get one with fitted boots. Those with just a fitted rubber-type sock that requires an overboot, just dont work. They look like they do BUT the sock tears/wears out quickly, then you are in trouble!
