Dahl Naval RIB versus Ribcraft

Hi everyone, i am new to this forum and would like some advice.
Today i have a Ribcraft 6,4m with a Honda 150 that i am very pleased with, i am now looking for a bigger RIB for next summer because family allways wants to bring half of the house everytime we are going out :-) i have been looking on a new Ribcraft or Dahl Naval, what i like with the Dahl is of-course the design but also that its very wide and it creates more deckspace, the Dahl 24 is 25cm wider than the 7.8m Ribcraft.
I went out with a Dahl 24 with a Volvo Penta 430 gasoline inboard but looking at an outboard myself, probably a Suzuki 300. the test rum was great and i really liked the boat but want to hear if somebody knows anything and what difference can it be between a inboard and outboard.
Something that was really nice with the Dahl console is that you can fit a toilett inside, lots of room inside and the wife loved it.
The best info with pictures they have is on their Facebook side www.facebook.com/DahlNaval

Looking forward to your experiences.

Regards

Henrik

Hi Henrik & welcome to Ribnet.

I'd never heard of Dahl boats until I read your post, nice
I've had both inboard & outboard powered RIBs & they are different beasts. First of all, any space gains you make by going for a bigger boat will be lost by going inboard, they take up A LOT of space. The upside is, if you went inboard diesel, your running costs would be far lower.
Comparing the Dahl to Ribcraft looks on paper like comparing apples to pears, they are different boats aimed at different markets & I assume this will be reflected in their respective prices. The Ribcraft is a no nonsense utilitarian boat aimed at the "hairy arsed" market & the Dahl appears to be aimed definitely at the upmarket "Brazilian skinny latte macchiato" crowd Toilet! tchu!

Hi Henrik , and welcome, another option to look at is this Dutch company....I have never seen one in the flesh so to speak but their marketing pics look really impressive. They might be worth a look

Hi Henrik,

I know the boat you tested, its a customer who bought it last year, see attached pic.
If you are interested in testing a 24 with outboard you are more than welcome to PM me.
Pikey you are a little bit right in what you are writing but we are also producing boats for the commercial market with less bling bling :-)

Thanks for all replies.
Regarding the inboard outboard i will definetly look at a outboard version because i want as much space as possible, will keep you informerd about my test.
The roughneck looks nice but i think the Dahl design looks nicer and it has more stowage place inside the console, i think that most of the ribs i have been looking at has very little storage place.
When i e-mailed Petrov about testdrive i also asked if somebody els was buildning the Dahls but he wrote me that all Dahls are produced outside Stockholm and they also build their own tubes, stainless frames etc.

Went out for a test today and wow.
With a 350 Verado we made 63,5 knots and the balance was perfect and we jumped in some waves after a ferry and landings was really soft.
Very impressed and the finish of the boat was pedantic.
Will update with some pics later.
