What is this meeting? I'm in Portsmouth then, so if it's something important, I should probably go...

Jimbo, if you have volunteered to do marshalling at the Fleet Review, at least one person from each boat must attend one of the briefings. I assume you will be crewing for someone? That person will have been receiving all the e-mails about it. If I were you I would ask your skipper for details. HTH

My crew and I are doing the same, the weekend that is.

Am staying with my crew mate in the Hamble.

So drinks/meal/chat/whatever sounds good.
What is the whatever?

Aaah, gotcha.

No, I'm not marshalling, I hadn't confirmed a Rib until recently. Guess I don't need to go then, all you lot that are marshalling can tell me where to be and what to do!

James

If you want a day crewing you would be more than welcome out with us.

I think you met Matt and Rob at the weekend.
They were on our stand when you came over.
Matt and I are doing the 4 day's, Rob is doing a day with us then I think a day with the Marine Police.

Plenty of room in our boat!

Regards

Jon,

That's really kind of you to offer, but my Aunt, Uncle, and another Uncle are coming down, and they don't "want to be tied down or be an inconvenience to anyone" so we're chartering a boat from someone.

Thanks for the offer though!

On the subject of training, before the sea got grotty (ie still in Brighton harbour!) Louise sent me a DSC and pressed 'acknowlege'. But my set did not switch to her preferred channel and I could not hear her message. What were we doing wrong? I have a Navman 6100.

Thanks

Bruce

No problem
Your welcome out with us anytime mate.

Bruce

That does seem a tad odd.
Not sure on the way that set works.
But it should change and am very suprised it did not.
Did Louise's set change ok?

Regards

From manual:

"5-3-2 Receiving an Individual Call (INDIV)1. When you receive notification of an INDIV call, press any key to cancel the alert. The radio automatically selects the channel designated in the incoming call. INDIV calls are almost always Routine priority. If the radio recognises the user MMSID as one of your buddies, the buddy’s name is displayed in place of the user MMSID.2. The VHF 7100US responds automatically but the VHF 7100EU prompts you to press ENT to acknowledge the incoming call. 3. The caller should respond to your acknowledgement by making voice contact on the designated channel. If this does not happen, you can press PTT to initiate voice contact instead. The call data is stored in the Call Log"

Louise, which channel did you designate?

I think it would have been Ch77 but can't really remember! I seem to have a chunk of Sunday missing from my memory! Maybe we should give it another try at a more relaxed time?

I was on tri watch monitoring 16, 77 and 67. I pressed the ENT button but heard nothing. Radio may have switched to 77. Did you Louise then transmit on 77? Actually, I thimk radio did go to 77 cos we did not hear anything from Coastguard all afternoon...... but we were quite busy
