Checking/servicing my lifejackets-is this acceptable?

This Baltic 275 LJ was sitting in a cupboard for a while, and the Hammar unit went way out of date so I triggered it to test it rather than blowing it up manually and weighing the bottles as normal

This is 18 hours later, it was fully (tight) inflated after triggering. Temp when triggering was 35C, is now 25C. I'm aware CO2 is far more affected by temperature change.

Is this acceptable to put a new unit in or do I bin it?

(as an aside, I wore it when I triggered it and it's the first time I was wearing a 275N LJ when it was inflated. There's no way anyone's self rescuing using one of these. I could barely move.)

I'd check it for leaks and wear - if none I'd replace and proceed.

You have to ask yerself tho - does it owe you anything and how long/often do you plan to use it?

There is that, it's a spare and the hammar units aren't cheap.

Like I say - no wear or tear and a new Hammar will see it over the line to the next Sell By date. If I was wearing it every day - I'd replace it because ongoing wear might catch up with it within that period.

One for the Mother in Law for sure. A "spare jacket" - for those special times when a Closed Cell Seat Cushion just isn't good enough....

Take a look here - Crewsaver suggests it should hold pressure for 12 hrs.

It MAY have, it was very very warm when I triggered it and the ambient temp dropped 10 degrees by the next morning. It's gone into the 'spare, might re-arm' pile. Its 10 years old anyway
