Chain/warp alternative.....

Anyone used this, as opposed to traditional chain/warp? Do they work as well?

Have just got a Brig Eagle 650 (without anchor/chain etc), and looking at options. Listing says the 12mm rope is suitable up to 7m ribs.

Thanks

I have the same rope on my SIB & it’s fine for light anchoring on soft bottoms. I wouldn’t want to use it on the RIB on hard/rocky bottoms due to abrasion. Can’t beat chain for proper anchoring.

I have used one for years but from memory I have 5 mts of chain attached. To be fair I do not do much anchoring so can’t confirm how good the holding is

I've used these for a few years now, following a couple of big operations I struggled pulling chain back in a keeping it rubbing on the tubes so I tried these weighted anchor ropes out. As PD has said above they will never be as good as chain, but to be honest I've never noticed any issues with holding, even if a couple of other ribs have rafted up next to us it's never been a problem

I would suggest its ok, but add as much chain (even small-ish gauge stuff) to the anchor end as makes sense for storage and hauling

Have used sinking line for years, together with a good length of chain, and found it works well so would hope the weighted version is even better. I anchor 10+ times a week in mid season with a variety of bottom types

Seen a few using heavy duty bungees but still recommend som chain to help anchor set properly
