Cardiff Finals 1 - 3 Oct

Next race is Cardiff, with races on Fri Sat and Sun - 1st to the 3rd of October.

There will be 2 National races on Fri and Sat with a basic on Sunday, so look forward to racing against Team Explosion maybe?

There will also be most of UK watersport represented including jet skis, OCR, inshore cats, Zapcats, in fact if it floats, races and doesn't have a sail it will probably be there!

I don't think Sunday is a "National" .... Even the RYA can't just add national races to the calendar

Friday and Saturday are the national races, and then the combined results of the 3 races (Fri, Sat, Sun) go towards a 3 race Cardiff "series" ..

They have done this previously at a number of the "finals" events in the past and at Cowes last year ....

So .. it is not a basic in that non RYA registered boats cannot enter

It is not a National in that the points (or not) achieved during the racing do not go towards the RYA national championship.
On that basis, if you are not concerned about the "Cardiff Series" ... i.e. the accumulated points from all 3 races, then speak to John to find out if someone could navigate for you in the third race using a day licence. I don't know the answer unfortunately

The Sunday is a lay day for the National race tho just in case Ivan the Terrible decides to play havoc with the weather ...

Can't get a day licence as it's not a basic - I was told it is a national race but I'm always confused anyway!

It's all sorted out anyway - going to get a provisional National licence for the lucky volunteer! Just wondered if they had thought up a new type of race for Cardiff a sort of non basic non National?
