Bombard bubbles

Hi Gang,
We have a 4.2M Bombard RIB w/Honda 25

Under the front valve there is some physical damage and leaking.
I removed the inner valve and used a snap on snap ring pliers and soap lube to remove the outer hold down ring.
there was dirt under the outer ring and after a clean up we see some damage.
A wooden stick got jammed into the outside of the valve by accident.

The damaged part of the tube is right where the tapered seal fits on the outer hold down ring .

I think that a patch will be in the way
I wonder if some divers Seal All would do the trick
or
Is it possible to buy a New Valve already mounted on a patch and cut the old one out and glue the new in?

hank

RIBase
i would use sikaflex and re-seat the valve leave for a few days and try that, not sure what you mean by divers glue aquasure? that might be too strong to get apart if it doesn't work.

I highly doubt Sikaflex, Aquaseal, nor 3M 5200 are the right adhesives for the repair. Do you have a clear picture?

From the description a patch may be the best solution, and maybe even on on the inside and one on the outside. The valve won't care if the material is a little thicker.

Bombard bubbles

Thanks Jeff
good points

seeing that the inner valve body can be removed
I'm thinking about cutting a patch to fit on the inside the tube and around the valve body
and removing the old small patch and making a new a patch on the outside
I'm ordering the PVC glue today
thanks for the spiritual advice guys
cheers
Hank

I just tried to get some PVC glue from 3 different places.
all of them said they were Out of stock and it has been a while waiting for the new shipment

I'm going to check with www.bombard.com next

RIBase
unless im not understanding this, the damage is under the ring where you found dirt which means it couldnt seal the damage from the stick would be coated with sikaflex and a bead of sika between the rims on the outer ring so when you tighten down you form a seal to stop air passing up the side of the valve as it goes through the fabric.
if you patch it will you have enough of the inner valve coming through to fit the outer sealing ring.
in the second picture there is two distinct circles on the fabric where the outer ring sits the outer one is where the damage ends so to my mind sika would be the way i would go OMO

I managed to borrow some glue from a friend
I removed the little patch near the damaged area then used a dremel sanding disk to remove all the paint and cleaned up the tube with acetone.

I cut a donut shaped patch and glued it to the top of the whole "valve patch" and sandwiched it under the top screw down ring.
We let it dry for a day and a half.
filled the tube and gave it the soapy water test
all good
thanks for the ideas
cheers
