Boats!! Arghh

Finally got out on the boat today after having it back from Henshaws with a nice set of new tubes. Am on holiday all week so looking forward to using it all week being we now have some nice weather!! Great start leave langston lovely flat sea get out to Horse Sands fort with a big grin on my face to be startled by the over heat alarm! No tell tail only steam, oh SH*T me thinks!! Surely not only had it seviced back in October, it cant be the impellor must just be blocked intakes, no such luck all clear in that respect let it cool down tried again an intermitent tell tail and more steam and alarm!!

Since I have moved down here I havent yet had a succesful days boating in the solent, give me back Christchurch Bay!

So managed to get a tow to South Parade pier and walked boat along the beach back to eastney only to discover ourselves stuck at the headland in the middle of a bloody nudist beach!! Finally a friendly rib passed by from the ECA who I managed to flag down to give us a tow back to the slip.

My question is has anyone attempted to change the impellor themselves, and is it fairly straightforward? Am thinking Im off all week and would be nice to get it done quickly and get back out there!

Any help much appreciated.

Luke

Luke, Have a read at this: http://rib.net/forum/showthread.php?...light=impeller
Not technically difficult, can be a bit fiddly (disconnecting/reconnected gear linkage etc) or if the leg won't split (but if it was apart in October - shouldn't be too bad). But assuming you can get the "kit" you can be back in action tomorrow afternoon!

They may do if you are a member . They should turn up to your mooring and do what is needed to get you going , or get you to somewhere that will.

Arguable if they will do it on a trailer though - not really a 'breakdown' if you can tow to a yard ............

They have however been out me on my mooring when my motor would not go.

Not too bad...

Here's a how-to, with pics:

This is, as you can see, for an F115; as far as I know, they're all pretty similar.

Haven't looked at this thread, but here's a how-to for a Yam 200:

Thanks Polwart and Jyasaki,

Great guides and really helped. Was a really straight forward procedure and even more simple on the smaller engine. Got a complete service kit from Warsash Marine for £45 so all sorted.

Back out tomorrow!
