So who thinks this is a scam!

Hello,

I am sorry but the company will not send you first the engine.It is against their policy to do that. I will try to explain you more simple.Here is how we will do it:
- you will give me your full shipping name and address;
- I will contact the shipping company and i will give them the details to start the shipping process;
- they will contact you with the details about the shipping;
- after the shipping begins, you will have to pay to the shipping company, to the agent in charge with our deal;
- the company will validade the payment and they will keept the money in a fund until you have received and accepted the engine;
- if you have accepted the engine, the money will be given to me,if you refused the engine,all your money will be refunded;
- you will have 10 days to inspect the engine,after it has arrived to you;you can decide if you will keep it or not in this 10 days.
Tell me if everything it's clear to you, if so, provide me your full shipping name and address and I will start the shipping process.

a member of my local boat club is having a few problems buying something from a far flung foreign country web site with the old please send payment by a not secure means ,no telephone numbers ony done by email only , now you must pay customs charges and we need money up front ect before it can be relesed to you and quite a lot of money from what i hear , they have a uk accommodation address but no telephone number . but i suppose its the old story , buyer beware if it looks too good to be true then it probley is .

Tell them to send the police to the UK address IF they are asking for cheques to be sent there. If not it's probably an address they've randomly picked off the map.

Just to keep it going a bit further on the next 'iteration' you could say that, on reflection you now feel uncomfortable dealing with the 'Agent' as a counterparty holder of the funds and that you would prefer to deal with your own and their banks directly as the trusted agents. You would do this through your 'own company' by using a Letter of Credit arrangement issued by your bank. To set this up you will need to know their bank and account details and could set up LoC settlement terms based on the shipping and acceptance letters.

This is mainly complete b*****ks of course but is close enough to the LoC arrangements to perhaps keep the dialogue up and waste their time - interesting to see if they reveal their Bank details...
