Best Restaurants Cowes please

I have put together a RIB experience for a charity auction and am looking for a couple of Restaurants at Cowes who you can recommend for a lunch meal for maybe six persons. The charity will then approach them for a deal. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Presently we are talking to The Folly Inn but may go for a Restaurant in the town.

You can't go wrong with the Folly I would say but most of the pubs in the centre do good food. Never been anywhere posh in Cowes though.

The Fountain in Cowes is a sister pub to The Folly with the same menu but, in my opinion, less atmosphere.

The Pier accross the road is more trendy but I fail to see why!

The Saffron has great food but very condescendng service at high prices.

I can recommend:

--Mojacs (very good value set lunch)
--The Baan Thai. (but not sure if its open for lunch)
--Lugleys.

If you know any members of the Island Sailing Club, lunch there would be a nice prize. I am a member and might be able to arrange if it would help.

Fountain: don't bother.
Pier View: would be okay

Hi Andy, I might be twisted towards Island Sailing Club, who would we contact to discuss. I am putting together a voucher for the auction and may do a separate meal/restaurant voucher as each company will get a mention as set out in this link
http://www.gosh.org/get-involved/att...-pigeon-shoot/ You see the auction at 1515hrs
Cheers Ian

Drop the ISC an email and see what their initial response is; they are pretty good at replying to emails.

Get back to me if I can oil the wheels at all.

I have it from a reliable source that they get their food from Brake Brothers.

Having said that, it seems popular.

Pish! I do not know how long the current couple have been there, but the food was very good indeed and being from a catering family I know what a Brakes catalogue looks like when turned into a menu.

The service was top knotch and the wine was pretty good to, though obviously I abstained from the latter.

i went there once a couple of years ago and it sticks in my mind as being probably the worst food i have ever tasted at the price they were charging, plus the service was rubbish and the white wine not even pre chilled. Oh yeah, just remembered, the bread was stale and the butter was dripping through the packaging. I also remember the person looking like he was the owner sitting behind a counter on his fat arse counting the money cus the place was packed. The whole place and food thing reminded me of the 70's.

i went back the next day to complain but it was closed.

Of course it might be all different now.....

Murrays

It's a proper Restaurant - not just a pub that does some food.

Island Sailing Club has an unrivalled view - food's OK as well.

Folly - Food's OK (average) but in the summer you feel a bit like a number rather than a customer.

Fountain - good to be near your boat on the Quay but the busses going by can be tiresome. Great for a cheeky lager as the sun goes down.

Pier View - probably where I go most but could be any (good) town centre pub. Good beer and OK food.

Depends how you're placing the prize.

I would suggest Murrays for good food but the ISC for the "experience".

I'm sure that the best view by far is at The Waterside Pub.

Rubbish service and pretty bad food.... But the view is lovely from the outside, upstairs bit
