Barrus fuel tanks for Avon searider 5.4

Hello. New here, I'm fixing up a Avon searider 5.4. It's basically going to be a full rebuild as it's been sat for over 15 years and I got the boat without the barrus tanks but have managed to purchase some without the caps. Would anyone know anywhere that sells spare caps? Hopefully will be on here a lot asking for advice about fixing here up. Picture of the boat as I found her and a picture of the tanks in question.Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks

Welcome to the forum.

Looks like an interesting project. RDG062 Fuel tanks, assuming that’s what you have mentioned on an earlier post by members on the forum. https://www.rib.net/forum/f36/barrus...ube-68649.html

Also read that Barrus sell the caps, but that was back in 2009, when they were £25 a pop. That’s the one with the gauge. Email Barrus, they’ll confirm if they are still available. mailto:customerservices@barrus.co.uk

Can’t vouch for this business, but for £30 plus postage you can get tanks with caps. https://bogeyknights.co.uk/product/barrus-fuel-tank/

Hi and welcome

We popped into Bogey Knights teh weekend and picked up 2 tanks, complete with gauge style caps - well worth giving them a call and never had a n issue with anything we've had from them.

Thanks Spartacus. I've emailed barrus last week and still awaiting a reply. I've contacted bogey knights aswell but they don't have any in stock. In no rush as got lots to do in the next few months before the boat is ready. Cheers again

Thanks treerat. I've contacted bogey knights but they don't have them in stock and I've heard they are like hens teeth to get. Hopefully the gamble with getting them without the caps will pay off. I didn't realise the caps are so big. Cheers again

I do know a chap with a 3D printer that creates such things, not seen a Barus cap but he's due to amke us some Wessex Pains lids - do you know anyone locally that can measure the threads and make them for you?

That's not a bad idea treerat. It's worth asking around but I'm very limited as I live on the isle of mull. It's certainly worth a look at though and see if there is a company that could do them for me. Many thanks

Chapel Prints Co: A small, freelance designer and producer of 3D objects, acting as a "cottage industry" and focusing on educational models.

Mystic Pots Studio (Pennyghael): An artist based in Pennyghael on the Isle of Mull who works with various materials, including 3D-related creations (though specifically noted for polymer clay/specialist items).

Local Makers/Groups: South West Mull Makers may offer bespoke items, which could include 3D printed products.

Other Options
While not on the island, companies like 3D Quick Printing Services Scotland or other mainland Scottish services in Glasgow or Inverness (e.g., JC3DDesign, STEP3D) are often used for professional 3D printing needs in the Highlands.

Wow brilliant. Thanks a lot for that. I've lived here over 20 years and never knew anything like that even existed. Will certainly give them a go. Much appreciated thanks
