Don't walk away when this happens stand your ground they have nowhere to go.

Not a lawyer but took law, you can ask me to leave and most people would. But the law of misrepresentation and contract inducement is clear, put a price on an item and I agree to buy it at that price, that's what I legally have to pay and you legally have to sell it at the price you tagged it with. The costs of taking this stance through the courts are prohibitive usually, but it's fun quoting the SoG Act and the times I have quoted it I get the marked price.

Make sure you put the right price on things and that I'm not in your shop.

Better get on to the Citizens Advice then for giving out misleading information!

Citizens Advice - Prices of goods are changed on the website or at the shop till

Look into misrepresentation and contract law ..... With low value items I suppose nobody is going to get het up but say with a car purchase you have every right to take it all the way but will probably cost the price difference in legal fees etc.

It recently forced this issue with a Mis priced item in a high st retailer difference was £10. They honoured it because they also don't really know the law and don't want the hassle for £10.

Maybe the CAB advice is more recent than my degree of 92. I wouldn't be surprised if the law has changed to protect the retailer on small items, however on large differences I would argue.

And never was there a better example of why not to follow internet legal advice!
