Baiter Slip, Poole

I would aviod using Baiter slip for the moment. I had my rear car tyres and both trailer tyres slashed yesterday. Apparently there have been loads of trailer thefts and tyre slashings recently.

The day ended up being a complete expensive mess. We got back to slip about 1pm expecting to get the boat out before the forecasted Force 9 arrived but 5 hours later after getting the tyres fixed there were 2/3ft waves in the harbour and we couldn't recover the boat so we had to get the Aux Coastguards to help.

Anyway, ended up with a broken winch, fishfinder transducer, and lost the anchor rope - as well as the expense of 4 new tyres.

Big thanks to Portland Coastguard and the Aux coastguard units that came to help.

Daniel

I am sorry to here that, if you are in Southampton you are welcome to use our facilities. FOC. It has a good security system and 24 hour manned barrier

Where are you based now?

By "Our facilities" - do you mean the marina where your boat is based - or do you have something to do with the marina?

Always interested in places to launch Solent area!!

Cheers
Jools

Hi Jools we have moved to a Unit just down the road and river from our old Marina. We know have a big Portacabin and three bay dry storage at Saxon Wharf.

Saxon Wharf is an MDL property and I think they levy a small charge for the use of the slipway, but anybody from RIBNET is welcome to use our parking area to leave the car and Trailer

Baiter Park Poole

Probably better to use the slip at Rockley Park. Better slip than baiter as its a bit steeper and you can launch at all states of the tide. Its got pontoons to tie up to as well. Theres always staff on site and a 24 hr security patrol if your away more than a day.

The cost for launching and parking is slightly more, but then your not going to come back to slashed tyres etc.
