avon sr4 what size engine

I have a 4m avon searider & have just been using a 4hp crescent outboard on it as I wasn't going far. What is the recommended size engine ie short shaft (top of transom to bottom is 21 inch )etc & what hp would you recommend. It's predominantly being used as a fishing platform( only 1km from shore at the moment ) but with a bigger engine maybe a bit of wake boarding. It's rated to take upto 50hp.

RIBase
Longshaft.

I have 30hp on mine which is adequate.

I also had one with 50hp which was exciting.

50 is the way to go for skiing and wakeboarding.
40 will do as well just not so much fun.
Do you have just a bare boat so engine will have a tiller or is there seating and controls?
It's just that a 40 two stroke would be more manageable on a tiller with no PTT.

Whizz.
