Avon sr4 sling measurements?

Does anyone have the measurements for a 4 point sling for a bucket seat Avon 4 meter searider? A friend of mine has recently purchased this boat and needs a 4 point sling to lift the boat off of a crane to put into the water. The pick points are the original 4 points on the boat. 2 under the console (steering wheel), 2 U bolts on the transom.

I don't know your exact dimensions, but Spencer Rigging made mine and might have the dimensions. Its a 4-point one and the RIB is 6.2m.

Thanks for the pictures. I'm sure there is a standard sling measurement for the sr4 since it is such a common boat.

I am not sure. Doesn't it depend on the centre of balance?

I'm not sure but the sling measurements for my searider 5.4 were supposedly from Avon for a 3 point sling. I haven't used it just yet but it seems to be correct.

The bucket seat 4 meter is pretty popular even here in the states so I would have thought there was a standard 4 point sling for it as well.

I'm not convinced that you actually need measurements-the C of G should be around where the trailer axle sits under the boat if the trailer is set up correctly-so that's where the join between the 3 should be. As long as the angle between strops at the join is around 45-60 degrees then the lines should be long enough.

I suspect that an Sr4 is so light you could probably make a sling with decent rope and carabiners.

Boatster,

Just email Avon in the UK, that's how I got the dimensions for the 5.4.

BTW, recently spliced up new aft slings out of some spare 6mm Vectran line I had. Amazing how much better the boat lifts with those, vs. the stretchy 3 strand nylon I had originally used!
