Asking for a friend - rib recommendation

Hi all, so a friend of mine has asked for my help in seeking out a rib - I'm no expert by any means so thought I'd reach out on the forum of all knoweldge to get some input!

Family of 4, 2 adults 2 teens. They've all done PB2 & have had a few years of chartering experience.

Will trailer launch/recover rather than on a mooring.

Solent based but will probably use on holiday trips in this country and maybe France.

Usage will be day trips to usual suspects solent haunts, wakeboarding, fishing.

So far he's looked at Ribeyes on the basis that I have one but I've said its worth casting the net & getting something a bit larger than mine as his kids are older

He has a budget of 30-35K

Hi - I'd add a Highfield to the mix, absolutely love mine and she runs great with the four on as we're a 2 + 2 too

I run a 6m Patrol, trailer based and can easily trail and launch. A 660 would be great for the Solent, but I do know each time I've had mine up there she's performed great.

I'd probably go newer shape Sport by choice now as I like the seat layout, its the same hull so no real difference in ride, just looks

I do find when out with other rhibs, she gives a great dry ride when compared to other makes, which is key to a good day out, especially in the Solent .

I too would highly recommend the Highfield brand.
The new Sport 560, would be a great option.
Highfields have crossed the English Channel several times.

In reality a bit more information is required on what they need/want before one can start suggesting specific brands/models other than their personal favourites. i.e. if trailering, what size can they tow/store/launch? What kind of layout do they want, does the wife (at least it's usually the wife in my limited experience!) insist on a sunbathing pad, toilet, etc? Do they want all jockey seats or need bench seating? What do they want in the way of engine(s), single/twin, petrol/diesel, and what level of performance would they want?

4 adults + gubbins for a day out = 5.5-6m. That’s also a comfortable size to tow long distances, depending on the tow vehicle. You could go larger, can’t we all? But then you’re starting to complicate towing/launching/parking/storage. Smaller & it’s going to start feeling cramped. Apart from that it’s down to preference/budget & what’s available.

I would add to the Highfield recommendation. I bought my Patrol 540 new two years ago and it has been amazing. Easy to launch and tow, handles the west coast of Scotland weather. Very versatile - I’ve had nine on board as a shuttle boat and also very frugal. Also great for wakeboarding with the high tow point on the A frame. Mines actually for sale and within budget as upgrading to a 7m. Still has balance of warranty circa 4 years left.
