www.ebay.co.uk/itm/110881020343?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p398 4.m1423.l2649
You hear about these things but never think you're going to be the one in the right place at the right time!
Well i've messaged him several times and nothing!
After i'd calmed down and thought about it the first thought was scam !!! and i've given him email address/phone number......
But after a week nothing, no emails about improving my sex life or villa's in spain. no requests to send money to an uncle in Nigeria!
I bet im not the only one on here who's been all over this boat

But isn't the point of a scam to actually scam someone?

Hes never sold anything on ebay, with a quick scan through his history he has never bought anything in connection with a boat.

Buyer beware.

Let’s face it you’re not going to hand over any money until proof of ownership has been proven, and the thing is hitched to the back of your car, no matter how cheap it is...

Bit fishy with just 1 picture as well surely you would list several photos if you were seriously trying to sell it.

ha ha my mate has just rung me about this boat to see what i thought! - i work on the idea that if its someones pride and joy they will go into great detail about the boat in the listing. one and a half lines doesnt really cut it.

You could ask for the details of the dealer that has serviced it, see if it checks out, very cheap though.

You can ask all you like! There’s no answer

Not convinced it's a scam as there's been no comeback. I think the guy cocked up the price on the listing and has been swamped with interest, bet he doesn’t know how to edit the listing and has just buried his head in the sand! eBay is littered with poor or bad listings, that doesn’t mean there not legit and sometimes you can get lucky, but this boat is £10K under price. Easy mistake to make if you don't check the listing before you post it!

It's a common scam whereby an eBayer receives an e-mail from (supposedly) either eBay admin or another eBayer which has a link in the e-mail to a phishing eBay log-in web page, the eBayer innocently types in his log-in details which the scammers record and use to take over the sellers ebay account and then quickly list a (fictitious) big ticket, but undervalued item on his eBay account, a gullible buyer bids and the 'scamming seller' asks for a deposit at the end of the auction, the scammer pockets the money, leaving the duped seller to deal with the flak from the duped buyer - priceless!

We receive 4-5 of these type of phishing e-mails per day and they are getting more and more sophisticated, we simply never follow e-mailed Website links. As rocknrolla said; if it is too good to be true, then it probably is!

Fair do's,
But as in my OP there has been no contact from the "seller" at all.
Like you say there are plenty of scams about,

Mind you my paranoia chip has kicked in and i've changed my passwords

TBH I've been waiting for someone to say "Oi thats my boat!"

Got this reply from the seller a little while ago, after I asked if I could call him to discuss the Ribeye he had for sale:

"Hi,

due to the nature of my work (British Airways
pilot) I will be unable
this week but next week will be perfect to meet
you, price is £5200
and you'll come collect from my place ?
I will call
you next week when I'll be at home from work to arrange meeting.
I've
tried to attach some pics and received undelivered message ,
provide your
mail address and I will send lots of pics.

Best wishes!
Abdul"

I don't understand how he will call me when I've not given him my phone number, or send me mail when he's not had my email address which he supposedly sent 'lots of pics' to? Unless sellers can view personal information of buyers but I don't remember being able to communicate (when selling in the past) in any way other than through eBay's message system.

Pretty sure he hasn't thought this scam through very well. I've seen much better ones where they actually call the office when confronted over it being a scam!

Message him back as the "British airways CEO" and see where you can take this

Ad now gone, and this was before I could tell him I was a Colonel in the Nigerian Army and I could do him a big favour by buying the boat but he'd have t help cash a cheque for £50,000.
