Another year of RIBing starts here

I'm now happy!!

Last year I had a temporary morning and had to give it up in October when the boat went into storage for the winter. I got told that the temporary moorings would be turned into permanent moorings over the winter and I'd have to reapply. So I applied in February to be told that there were 11 moorings and 17 people wanted them so my name would be put into a hat. I spoke to the River Warden just now who has confirmed I was one of the lucky ones so within a couple of weeks I can get the boat back on the water and start enjoying it.

Well done - but remember, moorings are always a bit of a lottery!

Hope to be back on mine next week - leg painted today.

Looking good.
I know where my mooring is now - just one along from last year but it's now permanent so I've got it for years to come. It's in a great place.

Living in Scotland we have near perfect Ribbing weather all year round and fortunately for me the week of the snow was one of the four weeks I lost anyway while I re-engined and re-wired the boat.

Cracking run out yesterday from Largs to Tarbert for lunch and back, onto the trailer and home so no mooring but it is a bu@@er reversing the boat up the cul-de-sac in the dark. (Need to do something about lights)
..........74 miles and only saw one other RIB (at Milport).

Come on guys it's safe to come out of hibernation.

Spring like conditions today. Just order Mercury Vengeance stainless steel propeller (birthday present) and hope to be out next weekend launching from Stonehaven.

Only trouble is... beast from the east is meant to be back on Wednesday, with more snow.

As Billy Connolly once said "you don't get bad weather, you just get the wrong clothes"

Had a great day out in the Solent on Saturday. Can't believe that we've been over to Yarmouth four times already this year considering all the rubbish weather we've had.

Yesterday we dropped Grey Pearl in the Thames, made some adjustments to the front roller sets on the trailer, then had a tootle on the river for an hour to flush the engine. Well, it's more fun than using muffs.

All prepped and boat cabin kitted out.

Unfortunately, I shall be watching our vessel from AIS over Easter as not on duty....

........ Ah well.

I've just been down to talk to the Harbour Master again as I've not received an official letter about my mooring and was getting concerned. He said to not worry and just bring my boat any anytime I like and stick it on the mooring, they will catch up with me for payment if they remember

As I've got the boat in storage I'll and I'm away this weekend, I'll get it out next week hopefully, check it over and get it seaworthy.

Looks good, your video editor isn't there unfortunately But look forward to it all the same.

You'll be pleased to know I'm stuck at work with my 9 new starts today.

I've now got my RIB out of storage, parked on my driveway while I make some modifications. Last year I had a terrible problem with water collecting in the lower hull. I've moved the bilge pump to the lowest point now and it seems to be working well. Even though I drained the boat on Friday, I left the pump on auto overnight. Despite it only being damp - not rain, I filled half a bucket of water within 12 hours. It seems water wasn't leaking in, it was just coming from above. With this now done and th e boat cleaned it's ready to be put on it's mooring later this week in time for some nice weather hopefully.
