Advice please on keeping boat on the water for 2 months

Hi - new boat-owner here with a question please...

I've just bought a 15ft. "Terhi Fun Boat", 50hp outboard, not a RIB but an open sports-type boat. Been offered a spot quite cheaply to keep it in a secure marina on the water for 2 months close by where I live. This is very tempting as I plan to do lots of regular slow trips on that stretch of river (so its not seawater) & I have hardly any space to keep it at home & my wife dont like it on the drive !
But I'm concerned the hull might be affected by the water, cushions & electrics etc may become damp over time etc. I have a good cover for it but still in doubt.

Sounds a rather basic question but I just dont know how much better it would be for the boat to be kept on my drive. Thanks, Ivan

ivan,

You will need to pull it out of the water regularly to scrub off any build up of foul. You may decided that you need to antifoul if this is going to be a hassle. This is not great as Antifouling can reduce the resale value.

I would say that the boat will suffer a bit more wear and tear sat on a mooring and you are right the cushions etc will be perpetually damp expecially in this weather.

With any boat on dry land or on water the only thing that staves off aging is regular maintenance and cleaning.

Sott I missed you call yesterday but was on the water most of the day.
