Advice on Avon Searider 4m

Hi people,

I'm after a little bit of advice about my 4m Avon searider. It's a classic Avon Searider that has been in the family for years. It was made during the 80's and is in overall decent condition. It has a 40hp suzuki 2 stroke oil injection outboard that is probably early 90's. The boat was used last summer (2012) but does need some TLC. It needs a new teleflex steering cable and has a wiring issue with the power tilt (new wiring loop is best option). I was planning on fixing the boat this winter but with a growing family would like to get something bigger.

My question is how much is the boat worth in this condition?

Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I could be interested. Would need to view, where in the Duchy are you?

Value would be dependant on many factors, trailer, tubes, hull, motor, steering etc, etc.

Post a pic. Seariders are going for decent money at the moment. The repairs you mention won't cost much.

Thanks for the quick responses, I'm in Polperro Cornwall. I'll get some photos of the rib uploaded but wont be able to for a week or 2 as I'm very busy in work and the boat is stored in my sisters garage. Just wondering where most ribs for sale are advertised?

Cheers again

I just sold mine - that was a 1990, yam 40 ( no power tilt) but was all in very good conditon and was the deluxe ( no pesky transom braces) and was white (shouted 'RESCUE' far less) ....for very close to the asking price ..

Its in the for sale sectin on here if you want to look...

Yours what you want and what poeple will pay are a long way apart usually.. At a guess maybe 1200 on a very very good day for yours ?

It's had some work, cut down transome, bilge, transome supports and it looks like its been flow coated with a brush so as Peter says on a very good day £1200 but probably a lot less to be honest.
