A bit OT: some advice please

Wife and I are escaping the Falklands winter to visit Blighty for a few weeks, both keen photographers and she wants to see Puffins to make a change from the usual penguin diet

Skomer Island seems to be the go-to place, but the island visits are fully booked until half past forever in about 2193, so we've given up on that one, though there look to be some boat trips from the same operator and we might come back that way (we're in West Sussex as a base).

It looks like the best option at the moment is from Beaumaris in Anglesey, on a company called Seacoast Safaris to Puffin Island. Anybody on here got first-hand experience of that operator/trip and the probability/proximity of seeing said little feathery things close-up to tick the photographic box? Or any other recommendations for similar boat tours to see puffins (and gannets) that might have eluded Mr Google?

While we're over in that part of the world, is there anything else boat-related that's worth a look? Ideally with some good wildlife/photography opportunities, and ideally not getting wet due to cameras. Seacoast do a couple of other boat tours which we might look at.

Any advice/suggestions gratefully received - thanks

These people operate from Conwy and also do Puffin Island trips. They are a new venture, just started this year, but seem to be pretty busy. They mention they do private hires and seems to me that would give more chance of seeing puffins rather than on a short regular trip.

When are you visiting? Voyages of Discovery running out of St Davids appear to have availability in June & July.
If that's not at the right time, take a look at boat operators running out of Holyhead on Anglesey.

This video was taken a few years ago when we took our sib around North Stack and South Stack.
At South Stack you actually don't need to be on the water to see puffins, although it's better if you are.
It's not only puffins but guillemot, fulmar, choughs and gannets. We were lucky enough to see Peregrine (from the lighthouse path) when we visited.
As you're keen photographer's, please excuse the quality or lack of!

Thanks, will look into those. Visiting end of next week (ish) - we're off up to Yorkshire for a few days first and then probably stop off in a couple of places in Wales.

The Yorkshire Belle runs regular trips from Bridlington to Bempton Cliffs, which has a large puffin population.

Hi BogMonster, when do you think you will be in Anglesey? I'm there from the 18th through to the 23rd.
I'd be more than happy to take you out around Puffin Island and or South Stack.
PM me if you are interested.
