590 Hurricane

Looking at a mid 90s hurricane 590 ex fisheries vessel. The Hull was new in 1998 and fabricated as an aluminum mold of the original FG hull. The tubes hold air for about 2weeks but look pretty beat up and are showing fabric in some parts and the fasteners are loose and webbing UV deteriorated. The 1997 150HP Mercury offshore is toast but the leg is brand new. Dual battery switches etc. Radar arch two towing posts and FG center console motorcycle style. Hull is 1/4' AL. I am looking to pick it up for around $3000. Seems pretty fair just for the AL hull really.

Hey Jimmy... I have a 590 and love it. It was a used boat as well... ex-Police. Better shape than yours but more money too. It's easy to get new tubes made in your neighborhood.

It's a fantasic boat... think H2 Hummer for the water!

And welcome to Ribnet

That is a good price. Does it come with a trailer? You may be able to save the tubes. Mine were probably worse than yours but with a lot of work are now close to new. Welcome, and if you need any advice just ask.

More like an H1 Hummer. H2s aren't very capable offroad.

Sounds like a good deal if the hull is in good condition, which it probably is if it is 1/4" thick! That's some serious construction. Like Stoo said, there are a few places on Vancouver Island or the lower mainland that could do an excellent job of retubing it. Polaris Boats in Langley, particularly comes to mind. Even if the retube cost as much or a little more than the hull, you'd be into a heavy duty commercial rib with brand new tubing for a small fraction of what it would be new.
