21' Safeboat - Opinions

I live in South East Alaska, looking at this boat for adventures in the area that I can do in my current C-dory, but I'd rather do it something more sea worthy.

My only RIB experience is my tiny 10' Zodiac with 6hp motor, obviously nothing like this boat.

This is a heavy (4,800lb) boat, thick aluminum hull (great for beaching), wide beam (104").

Wondering about others experiences with similar boats.

You can get some info by doing a search for Defender class USCG boats.

For the 25's a lot of people say the deck space is pretty minimal, but that's a cabin boat, so that may not apply.

Aside from that, the CG use them and abuse them, so I'd assume they're pretty bullet-proof as far as the hull goes. I'm not aware of any privately owned SAFE boats, though they are out there.

Would love a review if you end up going that route.

Again Ryan Pratt had one. he was looking to chop it up to rearrange the deck but changed his mind. You might check with him.

As said before they are cabin boats. AC is required where hot. That might suit you though.

The 25' CG SAFEboats are cabins; the pics show the 21' in question as being a center console. Looks pretty nice.

The 25's near me usually run twin 225hp Honda's; that single 300 Yam should get the 21 moving pretty smartly.
