2024 Season

Just been totting up the log for this season - what with work, weather & family commitments not a great one:

Just 7 trips out
307NM
21 engine hours
236 litres of fuel used
Av 0.78l /NM

The good news is the fuel economy!

Did have a cracking run out to Eddystone & Plymouth in late September taking advantage of unexpected great smooth conditions.

Must make more time next season - I say that every year

I'm not that detailed, but I do know that '24 was definitely the poorest since I started boating seriously 4 years ago. Work did play it's part but mainly it was the poor summer we had. I probably totaled nearly 30/35 hours on the water, maybe a little more, but if the weather would have been better it should have been closer to 100 hours. Hopefully '25 will be wall to wall sunshine and calm seas.

I got out 38 times this year, 2 more than last year, put 74.3 hrs on the engine covered 713 NM's, at about 1.00 litres/NM or 9.23 litres/hour.

I got a nifty little gadget that sits on my NMEA backbone that hoovers up all available data at the tail end of last year; it's telling me that I've been on 66 trips and covered 1424 nm in my RIB this year.

In other boating, I had an eventful jolly 711nm "dash" from Ardrossan to Brightlingsea just before Easter, along with delivering a 13m Shannon from Poole to Ipswich, adding another 206nm to the tally of 2341nm for 2024, so not a bad year at sea.

Hopefully, some more in 2025 and learn to mast twin jets.

Next time I'm out (19th) I'll see if I can work some magic with the Garmin and pull the totals for the year.

I do know I've managed 134 hours in 2024 over about 26 days on the water.

2025 is looking interesting already for trips out - Pasty run dates available soon

They are always fun - Devon's fire boat was twin jet and I was used to the GAFIRS single at the time - was great fun, till you got close to something!!
