I did a VHF radio course a number of years ago and was wondering if someone could tell me how long it is valid for.

if after 2000 and covered GMDSS / DSC for life - unless the technology changes and you decide to use it!

yes - Jan 2014 the new changes are scheduled to come in to affect...
