Southampton newbie

Hello Everyone,
I am totally new to this sport .. a motorcyclist at heart but looking for something else to have fun on. SO I have bought myself a 5.5 Piranha rib. Delivery will be in January 2014 after the London boat show as it will be on display there to launch the new model.

I've had some experience on the water but not a great deal, did my day skipper 10 years ago and just completed the PB2 course a few weeks ago but I am really a total novice so I hope to get out on the water as soon as possible to gain more confidence and build miles.

When my rib arrives I will add the boat name but haven't got a clue what to call it at the moment!

Looking forward to chatting and ribbing soon!

Lisa
AKA Sapphire

Welcome to Ribnet. I'm sure you'll get lots of advice and help if you need any on here.
As a near Southampton boater, I'm sure I'll see you out in Southampton Water and the Solent!
Just bring on the summer!!! ( but get out there anyway, just wrap up warm!!)

I'm based in Ocean Village and will keep the rib permanently on the water .. so yes I intend to get out there at every possible chance despite the weather!! Luckily my warm biking gear doubles up as warm boating gear So excited it can't come quick enough!

Welcome to ribnet. I do my powerboating from Southampton water, it's a great place to keep a rib, with lots of interesting places to visit.

I'm sure you will have great fun with your new rib when it arrives.

Chris

Welcome Lisa. Similar adrenalin rush...but safer The problem is that good biking weather clashes with good boating weather then one of the toys has to stay in the garage.

Hi I was thinking that (Sapphire is my usual forum name too) but there are already loads of 'Sapphires' out there so I was thinking of something more unique . Might be easier when the rib arrives.. like naming a baby lol.

'Piranha' could work!!

Do let me know when you are on the water .. as soon as I get my boat delivered I'll be posting here loads to get to know local people with ribs! And good luck with the biking - its the only way to get around on the road as far as I'm concerned, been biking for 30 years so am used to all weather conditions hence wanting to get the boat on the water late Jan/early Feb!!
