South coast newbie

Hi there, after taking rya 2 and using a Ribeye 785 last year we have taken the plunge and bought a 2009 Ribeye 7.85 s with Yamaha 250 o/b. We are hoping to do lots of weekend cruising in the Solent, Iow trips and down the coast to beaches etc.

We live just south of Guildford and are wondering where to berth the boat along the south coast between Chichester and Hamble Point. There are lots of options and we are really not sure of the pros and cons of each including traffic conditions at peak times and ease of access off the A27 etc. We will probably keep it in dry stack bit also open to alternative suggestions.

We are first time boat owners and are inexperienced, so happy to receive any pointers or advice. Thank you and I look forward to contributing as we become more experienced.

Plenty of dry stack options in Portsmouth Harbour. From East - West....

KB boat park - Old Portsmouth. Nice spot, couple of nice pubs within a moment's walk for a post outing drink. A few hundred meters from the Solent.

The Dry Stack at Trafalgar Wharf - massive facility, very close to the M27. But a bit of a trek down the harbour to get out to the Solent.

Gosport Marina dry stack - the traffic can be a bit of a pain, but a nice yard with a nice waterfront bistro on site.

I gather there is a new dry stack coming soon to Royal Clarence Yard, Gosport. (Victoria Quay dry stack) - another to keep an eye on.

I don’t think there is a dry stack at Chichester? Hamble Point is a massive sprawling marina, boatyard and marine business park. Very central for the Solent, but Hamble lane can be a nightmare.

On the Hamble there are drystacks at:
Swanwick
Universal
HYS
Hamble Point

Petrol available at Swanwick and Port Hamble

Hamble lane isn't as bad as made out - especially at weekends!
