New to RibNet - how to use the site?!

Hi all

I've been driving ribs for years as a Safety Boat Driver at Rutland Water and also on the Isle of Wight but not at all familiar with how to navigate this forum

Just bought my very own rib (a Cobra 5.4m, but unusually wide at the stern - 8ft! - which has previously been a safety boat) which I'm planning to use both on the Isle of Wight and The Wash.

If I want to ask advice on my boat, engine or upkeep or insurance or whatever, how do I post these queries?

Many thanks.

Welcome, at the risk of seeming curt, I suggest you post just as you have done. With so much content I suggest you search your questions first, the wealth of information will almost certainly make your queries more specific.

Kate,

You’ve obviously worked out how to post. We split things up into sections (sub fora) but don’t stress too much about putting things in exactly the right place. Generally this place is fairly relaxed.

Boat questions https://www.rib.net/forum/f8/

Engine questions https://www.rib.net/forum/f8/ or https://www.rib.net/forum/f36/

Trailer questions https://www.rib.net/forum/f49/

Is that 8ft to outside tubes? Or transom ?

What year was it built? If it’s picton cobra I can ask the man who built it (well owned the factory at least )

Welcome Kate.

I have been here for a while but struggle with uploading photos.

Hopefully someone can chime in and suggest how to upload photos, especially using a phone.

I dont use a phone for uploading but here is the nitty gritty for pc uploads from Member Fenlander. He said recently:

Below the Reply box, you will find a button labelled 'Go Advanced'. Clicking this button will open a new window and the third area down is for "Additional Options".

Click the Manage Attachments button there and in the window that pops up click up to five Choose Files and that will open up a window to search your computer for the image you want. Then click Upload.

In the attachment window you will find a list of the allowed file types and their maximum sizes. Files that are larger than these sizes will be rejected.

Using a phone you are better off using the Tapa talk app rather than browser and mobile browser support is poor And forum software much outdated compared to other platforms, argument being you should use tapatalk from mobile devices

And if you don’t use other forums there is a dedicated Ribnet app (it’s just a version of tapatalk branded for us).
