New to me toy

Back again after being away for a while. Not in jail. Lol.

Got my self a new toy. Hull needs a good clean and a couple new stickers on console and engine

Valiant V-450 40hp etec T/T

I have read not to much good said about them, but after getting a water test it just appealed to me. I don't plan on going out in rough seas, just leisurely enjoyable jaunts. Added a fish finder hummingbird helix 5 chirp SI, plan on adding dual battery. And I'm sure I'll think of other things.

Valiant 450

I’ve got the same boat, I’ve had it for about 10 years, a great boat very seaworthy. I’ve been out in all weathers, easy to tow and self launch and recover.

Okay, online someone must have fitted a bilge pump hole higher up. Do you leave the bung out when you are at sea? It’s auto be a one way valve but it’s only got a small rubber membrane which I wouldn’t trust. By the look of you photo the membrane is missing. I always fit the bung trust before I launch and only remove it once the boat is on the trailer. John

You’ve definitely got the rubber bit missing. I’ve taken photos but I don’t know how to post them.

Hi John,

Yeah I leave it in when on the water, but still taking water on. I did remove it then got up.on plain and it did get the water out. But yeah that makes sense about something missing. My zodiac sib had one way valve thing and when taking water on as it did a lot woth waves, it would self drain while on the plain. OK I will look Into that. Still a concern I'm taking water on with bung in though. I'll have to investigate that further. Or as you have fit a small bilge pump. Cheers

Try this in google on the ribstore.co.uk. I think it’s the correct one.
Actually you only need the rubber bit.
