Hiya all..

Hi to everyone. I've been lurking abaht for a while thought it was time I joined in. I'm new to sibbing but have had other boats in the past a birch wood continental and Shetland 535.

I bought the sib and merc 3.5hp brand new 4 years ago and haven't used them at all yet so ullswater in July.

Enjoying reading the forum looking forward to being part of a brill bunch

Bob, Welcome!

If the engine has been lying for 4 years, it might be worth parking it in a bucket / wheelie bin of water and check it runs - stopping the frustration of lugging it all that way & then it not wanting to play is probably worth not doing it.

Keep an eye on the telltale too - if it hasn't turned in that time there is a chance the pump impeller might have gone a bit solid.

Aye 9D it'll get run before I go anywhere. It's been run in the water butt before and it's upright on the stand I made for it, but I take your point. It'll also get a slurp of oil in the plug hole to lubricate the cylinder bore as well.

Next job now the dolly wheels are made is a box/stand doins for the radio, gps plotter and a battery.
